Caroline Penney has extensive experience as a family therapist, with a particular focus on teaching parenting skills. She is registered as an accredited psychotherapist with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, and as a Systemic Family and Couple Therapist with the UK Council for Psychotherapy and the Association of Family Therapy. She is also trained as a supervisor. Caroline has developed and taught a wide range of courses related to parenting. She worked in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services at the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust and other settings, helping children and families experiencing difficulties, and also children who have experienced significant loss and trauma. She pioneered the Empowering Parents, Empowering Communities project in south London, training parents to facilitate parenting groups. Caroline has recently provided training to health professionals and parents in Africa, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Australia. She recently published ‘The Parenting Toolkit: simple steps to happy and confident children’ with Hawthorn Press.
